Brenda Charles´ works come up with critical questions mainly when considered against the background of the sometimes difficult relationship between youths and this cyber world. The artist is by no means euphemistic when she addresses the disorientation of adolescents, who find themselves living in the confusion of the cyber world. On the one hand, we are confronted with the fascination of these technical possibilities, to which the artist herself is obviously not immune, while on the other hand, the unmistakeable dangers involved are blatantly exposed. The childish curiosity and the joyous thirst for knowledge about technical achievements, by which adults are also not unaffected, is contrasted starkly with the frightening realisation of the incapability of fulfilling these expectations. The assumed control of reality by cybernetic navigation and guidance proves to be a contradiction in terms vis-à-vis real life.
